- How do I choose a motherboard for my processor?
- The board must have the same socket as the processor: LGA1700 for Intel Core 12th to 14th gen, LGA1851 for Core Ultra 200, AM4 for Ryzen 5000 and AM5 for Ryzen 7000 and 9000. The chipset then decides overclocking options and port count. The configurator offers only boards that fit the chosen processor.
- What is the difference between ATX, Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX?
- It is the board size. ATX (305 × 244 mm) has the most slots and ports, Micro-ATX is shorter and cheaper, Mini-ITX (170 × 170 mm) is made for small cases and has one graphics card slot. The case must support the format, which its specifications state.
- Does the board support DDR4 or DDR5?
- A board supports one memory type only, listed in its specifications. AM5 and LGA1851 boards are DDR5 only, LGA1700 comes in DDR4 and DDR5 variants. DDR4 and DDR5 modules have a different notch and cannot be inserted into the wrong slot.
- Will a new processor work on a board with an older BIOS?
- On AM4 and LGA1700 boards the newest processor may need a BIOS update. If you order the processor and board as one build from us, we update the BIOS during assembly in Písek. For a board bought on its own we can advise on the update.
