- Which paper for a laser and an inkjet printer?
- Standard 80 g/m² office paper is made for both technologies and covers most printing. For inkjet photos choose glossy or matte photo paper labelled for inkjet; it does not belong in a laser printer, where the fuser damages the coating. Heavier paper made for laser printing has a smoother surface and gives sharper colour prints.
- What do weight and whiteness mean?
- The weight is grams per square metre: 80 g/m² is ordinary office paper, 90 to 100 g/m² suits presentable letters, 160 to 250 g/m² business cards and covers. Whiteness CIE 146 to 170 says how white the paper is; a higher figure gives more contrast. Before printing on heavier paper check the printer's maximum weight in its specifications, usually 160 to 220 g/m².
- Which pack size is worth buying?
- Paper is sold in reams of 500 sheets and boxes of 5 reams (2,500 sheets); the box works out cheaper per sheet and suits an office. Store paper flat in its original wrapping in a dry place: damp paper curls and jams in the printer. We also offer A3, A5 and long formats for large-format printers.
