- How do I find the right ink cartridge for my printer?
- The surest way is to pick your printer model in our Printer supplies finder, which shows only the cartridges that belong in it. The code is also on the old cartridge or in the manual. Mind the suffix: XL variants have the same shape but a higher page yield.
- Is an XL cartridge worth it?
- An XL cartridge holds more ink in the same body, so the cost per page is lower. It pays off for anyone who prints regularly. If you print only occasionally the ink may dry in the printer before you use it up, and a standard cartridge is the better choice.
- Do I have to replace all colours at once?
- On printers with separate cartridges you replace only the colour that has run out. On printers with one tri-colour cartridge the whole cartridge is replaced even if only one colour is empty. A printer usually refuses to print when even one colour is missing, so keep a spare cartridge ready.
- How long does ink last in an unopened cartridge?
- Original cartridges carry a date on the box up to which the manufacturer guarantees quality, usually two years from production. Store them in the original packaging at room temperature, out of sunlight and frost. Once opened, put the cartridge in the printer straight away: without the protective tape the ink dries out.
