- How do I know the mount fits my monitor?
- The spacing of the mounting holes on the back of the monitor under the VESA standard decides, most often 75 × 75 or 100 × 100 mm, together with the monitor's weight. For every mount we state the supported VESA patterns, the diagonal range and the maximum load per arm. Some thin monitors have no VESA holes; then you need an adapter made for that model.
- A gas-spring mount or a mechanical one?
- A gas-spring mount is adjusted with one hand at any time while working, which suits alternating sitting and standing and shared desks. A mechanical mount is set with a key and holds firmly; it is cheaper and enough where you do not change the position. With a gas spring respect the monitor weight range: a monitor that is too light gets pushed up by the arm.
- Clamp or grommet fixing?
- A clamp tightens onto the edge of the desktop with no drilling, but needs a free edge and a top usually 10 to 85 mm thick. A grommet passes through a hole in the desktop and is more rigid, which suits height-adjustable desks. Most mounts include both; on glass and thin tops use a reinforcement plate.
