Frequently asked questions

How do I pick the right tape for a label maker?
The label maker model and the tape widths it supports decide, usually 6, 9, 12, 18, 24 or 36 mm. The tape code is on the old cassette, for example TZe-231 (12 mm, black on white) or D1 45013. Tapes from one manufacturer do not fit a label maker of another brand.
What does laminated tape mean?
Laminated tape has the print sealed between two layers; the label withstands water, chemicals, abrasion and sunlight and suits cables, cabinets and workshops. Non-laminated tape is cheaper and fine for binders and indoor shelves. For cables choose flexible tape, which holds even wrapped around a cable.
Which labels go into a label printer (thermal)?
Thermal label printers print on rolls of thermal paper without a ribbon; the roll width, core diameter and maximum roll diameter stated by the printer manufacturer decide. The code is on the old roll, for example DK-11201 or S0722430. Mind original rolls with a chip on some models: without it the printer does not recognise the roll.
