- How do I choose the right bag size?
- Bags are sized by laptop diagonal: 13 to 14 inches, 15 to 16 inches and 17 inches. Measure your screen diagonally or check the laptop specifications, and also compare the inner pocket dimensions in the bag specifications, because laptops with the same diagonal differ in thickness and bezel width. A bag one size up works; a smaller one does not.
- Bag, backpack or sleeve?
- A backpack spreads the weight over both shoulders and suits commuting and travel, with the laptop pocket against your back. A shoulder bag is quicker for taking the laptop out at a meeting. A sleeve protects the laptop inside another bag or on its own for short carries, without extra pockets.
- Is the bag waterproof?
- Most bags are polyester or nylon, which copes with brief rain but is not watertight; seams and zips let water through. Models with a rain cover in a pocket or labelled water-repellent fabric handle longer rain. For cycling or outdoor use choose a backpack with welded seams or a roll-top closure.
